SIRENOMELIA is an ongoing project and research on the hybridization of human and the non-human. a symbol of cohabitation and symbiosis of two opposite worlds: land and sea, fish and humans. Sirenomelia, also called mermaid syndrome, is a rare birth deformity in which newborn’s legs are fused together, giving the appearance of a mermaid's tail. Once again science and mythology are fused together, crossing boundaries between real and unreal.

Sirenomelia was first exhibited at Flash Art headquarter for Kuboraum's 10 year anniversary. For the occasion the artist produced two eye-couture pieces, transforming the brand’s eyeglasses into underwater masks. The remains of the performance were exhibited in the new store for the Salone del Mobile 2022.

Sirenomelia celebrates the concept of anomalies, including what can be commonly mistaken as a‘monster’ in the public realm; it’s a mythological representation, a monumental symbolism of imaginaries stories, that belong to a forgotten past projecting uncertain future.
