Draco Piscis is a sculptural installation accompanied by the display of 3 videos and digital images that tell a mythological story. This large-scale sculptural work resembles part of an unclassified monster; a monster that only partially reveals itself to the public. Starting from the scientific illustrations of the naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522), the work is a union of different natures; a hybrid creature presenting a marine world as a place of symbiosis, coexistence and unreal findings.
Draco Piscis reveals a fundamental aspect of human nature: the inevitable monstrosity inherent in the collective imagination. The sculptural installation proposes the enormous potential that our ocean has to offer, not only as a resource but also as a place of cohabitation. In a socio-cultural context of fluidity, transformation and catastrophe, becoming something more-than-human may now be indispensable. Finding new solutions for adaptation in a world in constant decline is a priority.
